Extension Service is a cooperative partnership between your Seminole County Government and the University of Florida in Gainesville. Our education programs are directed at broad national and state concerns, as well as issues specific to Seminole County, with locally determined and citizen influenced priorities.  What is UF/IFAS?

4-H Youth Development

A youth education program which provides children and young adults ages 5-18 the opportunity to learn life skills needed to become productive and self-reliant members of society, good citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

Florida-Friendly Landscape

Whether you are new to Florida or have lived here all of your life, our presentations and workshops will provide you with practical, common sense tips that will save you time and money for a better looking/healthier landscape.

Residential Horticulture

The Urban Horticulture program promotes environmentally sound practices to manage plants inside/outside your home, while the Master Gardener program trains volunteers in basic horticulture principles.

Your UF/IFAS Seminole County Extension is part of a nationwide network of land grant universities providing non-biased, research-based information to America's citizens. In our state, Extension's Land Grant  is the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences( IFAS). Seminole County Extension serves as a bridge between the University , UF/IFAS Research and Education Centers and the local community by providing sustainable training for adults and youth.

In 2014, UF/IFAS Extension celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, which established the Cooperative Extension Service. Learn about the history of UF/IFAS Extension and how the Cooperative Extension Service was established.
