Community Information Receives State Award for Being a Friend

Sanford, Fla., July 8, 2009-Seminole County's Community Information Department has been selected as the Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP) Friend of the Extension Award recipient for 2009. The Seminole County Extension Service nominated the department for its outstanding public relations and marketing efforts promoting the Extension and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) throughout Central Florida.
The Community Information Department is comprised of graphics, public relations and Seminole Government Television (SGTV) staff. The Department has worked on many projects for the Extension Service including brochures, fliers, news releases, the 4-H Tropicana Speech Contest, and a two-part television series highlighting the IFAS Apopka Research and Education Center. Other projects promoting the Extension include SGTV original programs on Credit, Foreclosure, Food Safety, Master Gardeners, Florida Yards and Neighborhoods and Biological Controls. Several of the Community Information projects, completed on behalf of the Extension Service, have received State and National recognition for the Extension, helping to promote the work accomplished by the University of Florida/IFAS.
