Seminole County's Parks and Recreation Programs a Natural Choice for State Award

Sanford, Fla., August 24, 2009-Seminole County Leisure Services was voted among the best in the State for the promotion of its parks and recreation programs. The County competed against more than 160 agencies to win the "It Starts in Parks Award" given by the Florida Recreation and Park Association. Seminole County was awarded first place in the category serving populations with more than 200,000.
The It Starts in Parks Awards rated agencies that highlighted messages conveying a sense of achievement, community, conservation, economic development, health, heritage and nature. These messages tie into the overall statement that Florida’s Future is in our parks, open spaces and recreation programs. The campaign started two years ago with the objective to increase awareness of the important role that parks and recreation play in communities across the state.
