SEMINOLE COUNTY'S LEISURE SERVICES EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION BENEFITTING RESIDENTS
Posted on: 10/16/2009
Sanford, FL 32771 - October 16, 2009 - Seminole County Leisure Services Department is one of only 86 agencies nationally to earn recognition from National Recreation and Park Association's Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).
National accreditation is an intense process that requires park and recreation agencies to respond to 155 standards in 10 categories to include planning, operations, program management and level of service to the community in comparison to industry best practices.
The Seminole County community and its citizens benefit in many ways from the department's accreditation efforts. Thorough reviews of policies and procedures help identify opportunities to improve service delivery. The department also uses information gathered during the process to more effectively manage its resources and assure the community that their tax dollars are being used wisely.
Accreditation was made possible by our Partners in Excellence who underwrote the cost of the accreditation effort. Our Partners in Excellence include USTA Florida, Musco Lighting, Inc., and Xcelligent, LLC. "As a local business in our community, we felt a responsibility to support an agency that holds itself accountable to the public and ensures responsiveness to meet our citizens' needs. Endeavors like this contribute to the unique quality of life that members of our community enjoy," says Tommy Simon, Vice President of Xcelligent.
"This accomplishment has positively impacted Seminole County. Accreditation is an acknowledgment that our board of commissioners, staff, and volunteers are committed to efficiency and ongoing improvement in our department and throughout the agency," said Seminole County Chairman, Bob Dallari.
