About Seminole County Public Library
The Seminole County Public Library System is a 5 library county
system serving a population of 395,000 citizens. The library system
was established in 1978 by action of the Seminole County Board of County
Commissioners and is a Department of Seminole
County Government.
Annual circulation approaches 2.5 million.
All 5 branches
are open 56 hours per week, 6 days a week, including
4 nights.
The system offers a full range of services
including:
- Collection of over 500,000 volumes,
- Interlibrary Loan service,
- Free Internet access including wireless
access,
- An experienced Reference staff available by
walk-in, telephone, and online,
- Homebound Mail Service
for those physically unable to travel to the
library.
- Award-winning programs
for children and teens,
- Word processing computers,
- Public meeting rooms,
- Remote access to the library
catalog through the Internet,
- TeleMessaging automated telephone information
service,
- Electronic books
access through NetLibrary, and
- An Email Book Club.
Volunteers provide invaluable support to staff in many different ways. If you would like to volunteer and are age 16 or older, please fill out the Volunteer Application and make an appointment to meet with the Volunteer Coordinator at your branch.
