How is this sales tax program different from the previous program?

• This Sales Tax is more comprehensive than the first tax.

• School needs (133 Million Dollars) are addressed.

• State Roads are improved.

• Major County 2-lane roadways are reconstructed because of structural not capacity problems.

• Sidewalks especially for school access are implemented.

• Pedestrian Overpasses (6) are also part of the program.

Why don't we just fund the roads that are currently over capacity and not build roads for growth?

The vast majority of roadways in this Sales Tax currently exceed standards. Only a section of County Road 419 and U.S. Highway 17/92 are acceptable. Without any new approved growth, these two roads will probably fail by the Year 2005.

An Impact Fee Ordinance Update will occur late this year and it will address growth-related improvements. Revenue from other sources not these sales tax dollars will be used for this program.
