The
Watershed Action Volunteer (WAV) Program
is an effort by Seminole County and the
St. Johns River Water Management District
(SJRWMD) to enlist volunteers to help
monitor all waterbodies in Seminole County.
What
is a watershed? A watershed
is a place where water drains and is
collected in a water body. A
watershed is also referred to as a
drainage basin.
How
you can help!! WAV's perform
a variety of valuable tasks on their
own or as part of a group. They
are trained by a specialist to use
field test kits for monitoring water
quality. They also survey streams
for sources of pollution, participate
in revegetation projects and shoreline
cleanups, help out in the field and
in the office. WAV's are also
trained too prepare and give educational
presentations to school groups, civic
associations, clubs, and other organizations.
