Alert Seminole is a free emergency electronic-notification system. Residents may opt-in to emergency notifications by text, phone, or email at AlertSeminole.org.

SGTV

During a disaster event, residents may tune into Seminole Government Television (SGTV) at seminolecountyfl.gov/sgtv, youtube.com/seminolecounty, or on TV using Spectrum Cable Channel 498 or AT&T U-Verse.

Social Media

Seminole County residents may follow emergency updates on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Nextdoor.

NOAA-Weather Radios

NOAA weather radios broadcast weather information, warnings, watches, forecasts and other hazard information 24 hours a day and should be an essential part of your home or business emergency kit. A NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards transmitter broadcasts on one of seven VHF frequencies. The broadcasts cannot be heard on a simple AM/FM radio receiver.

To get Seminole County information, enter code number 012117 when programming your radio. Seminole County is serviced by two transmitters: Orlando (162.475mhz) and Daytona Beach (162.400mhz). If your radio does not receive a clear signal, change to the other transmitter for better reception. Service reception to a county depends on a reliable signal, which typically extends in about a 40 mile radius from the transmitter.

All radios should be programmed for Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME). SAME allows your radio to eliminate all messages not meant for a specific County. Seminole County’s SAME code is 012117.

Shelter Basics

Depending on the disaster event, your plan of action may change. You may seek shelter in your home, a County-provided shelter, or you may have to evacuate the area. Listen for the latest information to locate the nearest open shelter. Space may be limited, so take only essential items. Seminole County special-needs shelters are available for those who have medical conditions that require attention. You must pre-register. To confirm space at a special-needs shelter, call 407-665-5102. People who require dedicated, 24-hour nursing care or a hospital bed, should make prior arrangements with a physician, caregiver, or a home-health-care agency.
