Closures, January 2025:

  • ECON RIVER CANOE LAUNCH: Due to a nearby sanitary force main break, please refrain from boating, swimming, or fishing on the Econlockhatchee River until further notice. The County's launch points on both 419 and Snow Hill Road are closing until further notice. Repair work, clean up, and water quality testing are currently ongoing. The City of Oviedo and the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County are coordinating response and will advise when the river is clear.
  • KEWANNEE TRAIL: Duke Energy crews will be completing vegetation and construction work along the Kewannee Trail in Casselberry beginning Monday, February 10 for approximately three weeks. This project is part of Duke Energy's Casselberry Grid Improvements.
  • GENEVA WILDERNESS AREA: The Geneva Wilderness Area will be closed starting Monday, February 10 for approximately 9 days for habitat restoration work involving heavy equipment.
  • LAKE JESUP WILDERNESS AREA: Lake Jesup Wilderness Area remains closed.

The Seminole County Parks and Recreation Department (formerly Leisure Services) is comprised of four divisions: Parks and Recreation, Greenways and Natural Lands, UF/IFAS Extension, and the Seminole County Library. Together, the active parks and programs of the Parks and Recreation division and the passive parks, trails, and wilderness areas of Greenways & Natural Lands division offer many opportunities for recreational activities in “Florida’s Natural Choice”.

Seminole County oversees 7,300+ acres of parks and natural lands and 130+ miles of paved and wilderness trails. Whether you are pumping up your heart rate during a Cardio Tennis program, cycling on the signature Cross Seminole Trail, or bringing the family to a guided hike in the Geneva Wilderness Area, Seminole County’s Parks, Trails and Natural Lands provide plenty of fun experiences for residents and visitors.
