Acquisition and Restoration Committee

The Acquisition and Restoration Committee (ARC) consists of 7 members (Seminole County residents) who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners (BCC). Committee members selected should have related experience in land, water, and environmental sciences or at least 5 years of experience in managing conservation lands. ARC members are responsible for providing their input and suggestions to the BCC on properties that further Seminole Forever’s goals.

Responsibilities of the Committee (with assistance from Parks and Recreation) include:

  • Calling for land nominations
  • Reviewing applications and making site visits
  • Creating property evaluation reports
  • Determining whether properties qualify for acquisition under the program
  • Initiating appraisals and title reports
  • Presenting selected properties and contracts to the BCC
  • Pursuing grants to leverage acquisition funding
  • Creating a 5-Year Acquisition Plan that is reviewed and amended annually

Members serve a two-year term and may be re-appointed. Anyone interested in serving on the ARC or any Board or Committee must complete an Appointment Information Form. Learn more about BCC Advisory Boards or call 407-665-7219 for more information.
