Slavia Road Capacity Improvements

From Red Bug Lake Road to Aloma Avenue (S.R. 426)

CIP No. 01785146

Overview

Seminole County Public Works Engineering Division is working on the final design of the Slavia Road Capacity Improvements Project. This project proposes widening Slavia Road to provide two travel lanes in each direction from Red Bug Lake Road to Aloma Avenue (S.R.426). The design also includes a multi-use path on one side of the road and a sidewalk on the other. The project’s goal is to improve traffic operations and safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.

The design follows the preferred alternative approved by the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners in December 2020. The project is funded by the third generation of the Seminole County One Cent Infrastructure Sales Tax.

Seminole County’s One-Cent Sales Tax for County Infrastructure, known as the Penny Sales Tax, is levied on the sale of consumer goods to visitors, residents and businesses, ensuring the cost to construct and maintain infrastructure is shared. The Penny Sales Tax funds local projects, including stormwater systems, sidewalks and roadways, capital improvements to public safety, and enhancements to Seminole County Public Schools facilities. Since 1991, the Penny Sales Tax has generated $1.8 billion across Seminole County, and residents have now approved its continuation into a fourth generation.
